Duration of Study

  • Bachelor: 4 years / 240 credits
  • Master: 2 years / 120 credits
  • Specialist: 6 years / 360 credits
  • Postgraduate studies:
    • Candidate degree
    • Doctor of Science degree

Grading system

University grading system is based on a 5-point scale, which is traditional for Russian educational system.

Graduation Requirements

Bachelor and Specialist Programs: graduation state exams and a graduate thesis or project.

Master Programs: research work and a Master dissertation.

Postgraduate Studies: academic degrees are awarded upon public presentation of the dissertation. The results of research work of a postgraduate student must be published in scientific journals. For a Doctor of Science degree, research results must be published in monographs.


Moscow university campus is located on 292 thousand square meters-with about 15 thousand undergraduate and postgraduate students, interns and course participants living in 7 dormitories with a selection of single, double, triple or quad rooms. Residence halls of Lomonosov Moscow State University are a set of modern campuses for students, PhD students and academic staff, provided with all the conditions for comfortable stay, self-study and scientific work, recreation, doing sports, participation in the university cultural life. International full-time students are eligible to apply for on-campus accommodations. The accommodations would be provided if space permits. Average monthly cost of accommodation at students’ hostel is 13000 RUR and depends on location and living conditions.

Exchange students are eligible to apply for on-campus accommodations in accordance with bilateral agreement. The accommodations would be provided if space permits.

Campus Life

To make most of university life experience, students may join its rich campus life, develop their talents in various clubs and creative groups, take part in numerous cultural events, visit museums and exhibitions.

Inclusive environment

LMSU has a strong record of admitting and supporting students with disabilities and does its best to ensure equal access and full participation for students, faculty, staff and visitors with disabilities in all programs and activities at LMSU.

Students with disabilities should have a medical certificate to indicate their condition, eligibility of activity and prescribed medical care and recreational activities. Students who show that their disabilities affect participation in an entrance exam are eligible to take those exams with accommodations.

The entire campus (classrooms, living accommodations, laboratories, etc.) provide accommodations for students and teachers with disabilities.
