Employment support and career counseling

LMSU provides career counseling and comprehensive support to students and graduates on employment issues.

Students work at the faculties and other departments of Moscow State University as laboratory assistants, tutors, engineers, secretaries, course coordinators, etc., whereas the employment of  students by future professional profile is actively practiced by the faculties of Biology (30 people), Law (23 people), Sociology (14 people), Philosophy (10 people), Philology (10 people), Higher School of Modern Social Sciences (9 people), Moscow School of Economics (5 people), and other educational subdivisions.

The students of all educational levels are involved in research and scientific projects, some get employed at the faculty or university research subdivisions. Thus, student community at the Faculty of Biology participate in research projects, the graduates interested in further employment in science stay in laboratories or research groups where they performed their thesis. Students of the Faculty of Philology are actively involved as temporary collaborators in grant projects. After graduation many students resume scientific and pedagogical careers at LMSU faculties and research institutes.

The faculties actively collaborate with recruiters, business and public bodies, research institutions and laboratories to provide professional employment for students and graduates.

Students receive the necessary professional skills and employment opportunities in the framework of practical training, pre-graduation practice and industrial placement, organized by the faculties. Students carry out training, production, research and creative tasks in state, commercial structures and public organizations: the State Duma, the Federation Council, the Analytical Center for the Government of Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, The Government of Moscow, the Public Chamber, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, as well as in the State Corporations Rostec, Rosatom, Rosoboronexport, and news agencies: TASS, Russia Today, Izvestia, etc.

Career and Employment Centers at the faculties offer career counselling, acquaint students with new vacancies, provide assistance in preparation for interviews and testing, conduct seminars on CV writing. Students regularly receive newsletters on various job offers and internships. Such centers work at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, the Faculty of Biology, the Higher School of Public Administration, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​and Regional Studies, the Faculty of Journalism, and other educational subdivisions.

Every year, the faculties hold Job Fairs, such as “Specialist Day” at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, “First Step” at the Faculty of Law, “Career Formula” at the Faculty of Chemistry, “Step Towards” at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Regional Studies, etc.

The CEOs and representatives of the top Russian and international employing companies regularly hold presentations at the faculties, telling about career prospects and open vacancies. The list of the companies is headed by Rusal, Rosatom, Procter&Gamble, PWC, Deutsche Bank, World Quant, Ernst & Young, Samsung, Huawei, Yandex, Sberbank, VTB, Alfa Bank, Tinkoff, Kaspersky Lab, MTS, Mail.ru, Ingosstrakh, Gazprom, Consultant +, Rosneft, Sibur, X5 Retail Group, Unicredit, NPO Orion, Consultant Plus, Innovation Center Biryuch, Avito, PhosAgro, Commercial and Industrial Group of Companies SOYUZSNAB, Moscow Domodedovo Airport, and many others. After completing the internship, successful students manage to get a fancy well-paying job.

Many LMSU graduates are employed in the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, leading research centers and laboratories, government agencies, ministries and departments, technology companies and IT sector, banks and auditing, on television, in media holdings and PR agencies, etc.
