Dear international students!
As you may already know, in view of the measures to minimize the risk of new coronavirus infection (Covid-19), MSU had to shift to distance learning starting from March 17, and to declare a week-long study break for the students from March 30 to April 5. Starting from April 6 (Monday), MSU resumes distance learning. Classes in the distance learning format will continue in accordance with the curriculum and the established schedule. Please, stay in touch with your professors and the International Office at your faculty.
The International Offices work remotely and remain in constant contact with you by e-mail. You can always contact them if you have any questions or difficulties in connection with the educational process, being on the university campus or taking the necessary precautions against the spread of coronavirus infection. Please, if you have changed the email address or phone number, inform your International Office representative as soon as possible.
If you have any questions regarding non-academic issues, or you feel lonely and need support, please contact Moscow State University volunteers in the VKontakte group: https://vk.com/foreignstudentsmsu.
Please note that from March 30 to May 1, in accordance with the Decree of the Mayor of April 2, no one should leave home / place of residence, irrespective of age, with the exception of the following cases: (1) to seek emergency (urgent) medical care or in the event of another direct threat to their lives or health; (2) to walk to the nearest available food store, pharmacy, bank or communications store, or (3) to take out the garbage when necessary.
Being on the street, in grocery stores or any other public places (except when using a taxi), people should keep a minimum of 1.5 meters distance from each other (social distancing). The self-isolation regime does not limit the right of people to come to Moscow or leave the city if necessary. The essence of the Mayor’s decree is that people cannot move around the city without a good reason.
We ask you to stay home/in dorms and take good care of yourself, your family members or roommates and other people nearby.
You can stay in the dormitory of Moscow State University until the formal completion of studies at MSU, as it was indicated in the order for your admission to the exchange programme or internship.
You will continue receiving full support from the staff of your International Office on issues related to your stay in the Russian Federation, such as registration, visa extension, and extension of stay in cases of emergency.
Please, pay attention to the validity of your visa: three to four weeks before the expiration of its validity, you need to contact your faculty International Office and make an appointment with its representative in order to sign the visa extension application and the visa application form. Remember that you need to bring with you two 3x4 photos (black and white or colorful, not glossy) and a receipt of paid state fee (it will be sent to you by e-mail or given by your faculty International Office staff). Please, keep in touch with representatives of your faculty International Office regarding the collection of your passport with an extended visa. We do our best to secure the quick documents processing so that you can get back your passports as soon as possible.
If you decide to return to your home country, please, inform by e-mail your faculty International Office. You can continue studying the disciplines for which you have already registered at your faculty in the format of distance learning from your home country.
We carefully day after day follow Russian authorities’ recommendations regarding the necessary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, and will keep you informed as soon as a change occurs. In this difficult situation, you can be sure that Moscow State University will provide you the necessary assistance.
Keep in touch with your faculty International Office representatives, professors and MSU volunteers.
Please, stay home and take care of yourself!
