On 26 April 2018 President of the Russian Rectors’ Union Academician Victor A. Sadovnichy proposed a project for the creation of the Vernadsky regional scientific and educational consortium at the 11th Congress of the Russian Rectors’ Union which was held in Saint Petersburg. The project will unite leading and several regional universities, research institutes and socially-oriented federal and regional business.
Such consortium should be formed in priority areas of the regional economy development. In addition, it is advisable to take into account the established scientific schools of regional institutions.
This initiative was supported by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and approved by delegates of the 11th Congress of the Russian Rectors’ Union.
The target is to form scientific and educational consortium that integrate the capabilities of leading universities, academic institutions, scientific organizations, and high-tech companies in the country and the region for the socio-economic and innovative development of regions, the effective use of advanced education, science and technology.
On 25 March 2019 the Memorandum of Vernadsky scientific and educational consortium project was solemnly signed within the framework of the International forum Universities, Society and the Future of Mankind.
On 30 may 2019 the agreement on the establishment of Vernadsky-Ingushetia consortium was solemnly signed by Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Victor A. Sadovnichy and Head of the Republic of Ingushetia Yu-B. B. Evkurov at the Russian Rectors’ Union meeting.
On 29 July 2019 the agreement on the establishment of Vernadsky-Tambov consortium was solemnly signed by Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University Victor A. Sadovnichy and Governor of the Tambov region Alexander V. Nikitin and Rector of Tambov State Technical University Michael N. Krasnyansky.
